BTT Hillcliffe to Thorn Cross & Stockton Heath
This BTT route starts in Hillcliffe, near Warrington, offering a mix of terrains for an engaging ride. You'll experience a ride that is around 34 kilometers long, perfect for an afternoon of riding.
As you begin, the trail gradually leads you through varied landscapes. The initial stretch is relatively flat, allowing you to warm up and enjoy the scenery. Maintain a comfortable cadence and get used to your bike. From here, you'll find yourself navigating a section of moderate inclines. The terrain shifts to include a few rocky sections, where you'll need to focus on maintaining your balance.
You will eventually climb towards Thorn Cross Young Offenders Institution, reaching the highest point of the trail. This is a perfect point to take a break and capture the views. Remember that your maximum speed during this ride was around 42 km/h. Enjoy the moment, feeling the accomplishment of the climb. The descent is a fun part of the trail, so keep an eye out for loose gravel, and try to keep a safe position.
As the route continues, you'll reach a point of minimum elevation near Grappenhall and Thelwall. This low point offers a moment of rest, allowing you to take in the environment. It's a great place to regain your breath before the final stretch. The last section of the trail is mainly flat, leading to the finish at Stockton Heath.
